Since January 2023 your Editor selected a boat to ‘feature’ each month. The May 2026 ‘featured boat’ is the last in the series, with 70 articles published. From June we’ll be featuring some of our favourite places up and down our lovely East Coast stretching from Ramsgate to Berwick-on-Tweed: harbours, creeks, anchorages, boatyards, sailmakers lofts, sailing clubs, rivers, estuaries and more . . .
The 70 articles of boats featured represent the wide range of vessels sailed by OGA members on the East Coast.
The cover photo for this ‘call to action’ is from 2024 when Steve Mitchell, trailing his smacks boat ‘Joy’ up to the East Coast was the last to leave the Deben Rally, based at Waldringfield Boatyard. Bank Holiday weekend, 2026 sees this Rally taking place again . . . it’s certainly a favourite place for many and the Boatyard recently won the Classic Boat Yards & Harbours Award.
