Testing SmugMug galleries

This page has been set up to illustrate how we can make use of the OGA SmugMug library by embedding galleries of images in local Area content. It is also possible to embed Instagram ‘feeds’ but I haven’t tested this yet . . . we need to see if it’s something OGA Areas would actually be interested in taking forward. It would certainly be good to ‘resurrect’ the OGA photo library so that anyone can ‘reuse’ images we already have and people could actually ‘browse’ the big collection (over 3,500 images). SmugMug also allows a Gallery to be set up with ‘Guest Access’ so that people at an OGA event may submit their photos to share.

Four instances of ‘shared galleries’ have been created below for review/testing purposes. Look forward to receiving feedback!

Here’s a Gallery created using the WordPress plugin Photonic. It ‘pulls’ images directly from the OGA SmugMug library ‘Cachalot’ gallery (created for the Boat Register). Adding images to the SmugMug library updates this instance of the gallery in real time. The captions are also created in SmugMug and updated there.

Here’s a slideshow using HTML source code from the URL for the same ‘Cachalot’ gallery in the OGA SmugMug library created for the Boat Register. Adding photos to the SmugMug library updates this version in real time on WordPress.

Here’s another Gallery created using the WordPress plugin Photonic, showing a different layout generated in WordPress. A new collection of photos from OGA60 EC Race was uploaded to SmugMug in a new ‘album’. These images are now in the OGA photo library for re-use eg the two of ‘Cachalot’ have been copied into the ‘Cachalot’ album and show up in the gallery above.

Finally another slideshow option
